The Transatlantic Experience
I am a Portuguese researcher and photographer. I recently moved to the United States with my husband (last February), the first time I left Porto for such a long period. I moved to an entirely new country, on a different continent and, in addition to all these novelties, I also have a different professional status for now: I am a housewife. Also, a first for me! Personally, this is the most significant difference. Being on my own all day, having all the time for me to do whatever I want, and "What I want?". This is an important question, and it's related to another, important question, I have asked myself "What will I do?".
First, I am going to get to know better the city, walk around the parks with my camera. I have still a lot to discover; the city is big. But I need to have other activities. So, I joined a women association here in Pittsburgh, where I have met a lot of other people that are in situations similar to mine. It has been a great support. It is good to feel that you belong to a group, that you are not alone!
Meanwhile, I decided to share what I am seeing and build a photographic diary about my experience. This website will be that diary. I hope you enjoy it, and also enjoy the city!
